Course Description

Chinese Cooking (Current Kindergarteners & up) The experience of cooking food and sharing meals is a huge part of Chinese culture, so come share the experience with us in this Chinese immersion camp! Conducted entirely in Chinese, this camp will be offered for all three summer camp sessions, with a different theme for each session. There will be food tasting during camp and recipes to take home. When registering for this camp, please list any food allergies your child may have. Session 1: Festive Foods In China, almost every celebration involves eating special meals with family and friends. From noodles on birthdays to dumplings for New Year’s, students will explore the foods that are used to celebrate in Chinese culture in a Chinese immersion environment. Session 2: North, South, East, West Just like in the United States, the different regions of China have different cultures, ways of speaking, and favorite foods. Students will make and sample signature dishes from different areas of China, all while speaking and learning in a Chinese immersion environment. Session 3: Snacks & Treats What’s your favorite snack? Is it sweet, savory, or salty? In this immersive Chinese language cooking camp, students will learn about snack foods and desserts that are popular with children in China, getting hands-on and maybe finding a new favorite!

Please note that classes are taught 100% in Mandarin ... students signing up need to be proficient in Mandarin and/or be in an Immersion program.
